The process for incentives covering Article Processing Charges (APCs) requested by open-access journals is managed by the Library and Documentation Department.
In summary, the process proceeds as follows:
- As of 2026, APC incentives will only be granted for publications indexed as Scopus Q1.
- After your article has been accepted, you must submit a signed hard-copy petition (there is no specific format required) together with the following attachments in person to the Rectorate Correspondence Unit located at the North Campus (Meltem Merve Küçükkelepçe or Nisanur Açıkgöz):
- the first page of the article,
- the title page,
- a screenshot of the acceptance email,
- the invoice or any document showing that a payment has been requested.
- Under normal procedures, these applications are evaluated collectively on a monthly basis. Applications submitted within a given month are reviewed during the first five days of the following month and then presented to the Rectorate for approval.
- As an exceptional case, if you require urgent payment without waiting for the payroll process, you must clearly state this in your petition and notify the Library accordingly. After the evaluation, you will need to personally collect the urgent payment approval letter from the Library (Reference Library, B2 floor, South Campus) and deliver it to the Rectorate Correspondence Unit.
- To apply for APC support, you must be either the first author or the corresponding author. Applicants who are not officially employed by İstanbul Medipol University (such as guest lecturers not registered in MEBIS and graduate students without university employment status) are required to include their Turkish ID number and current IBAN information in the petition.
- The final decision regarding such applications will be made by the Rectorate. All evaluations will be conducted in accordance with the attached and updated 2026 Incentive Directive.
